RISE Innovation Week 2019 has invited enterprises, government sectors, startups, accelerators, and investors from across Southeast Asia. Earlier this year, the executives of RISE had visited Taiwan and showed great interests and recognition for Taiwan Startup Institute (TSI) and the Industrial Value Creation Program for Academia. The TSI CEO, Ryan Yang, was invited as one of the keynote speakers in Innovation Week 2019. RISE also held a panel discussion to introduce Taiwan’s Value Creation Program and TSI for possible opportunities in cooperating with Southeast Asian top-notch accelerators. |

The five-day event also revealed Thailand’s ambition to promote startups by accelerating the transformation of large enterprises through innovative technologies such as AI, smart machines, and quantum computers. Some of these innovative technologies have already been implemented in industries such as smart city, transportation, logistics, image recognition, and unmanned vehicle under the support of RISE. The main challenge for RISE is how to extensively apply these technologies to the industries to boost the digital transformation of domestic industries. Founded by Dr. Kid Parchariyanon, RISE has established an ecosystem similar to AppWorks Accelerator, providing a platform for cooperation between Thailand’s startups, overseas venture capitals, and local corporates and investors. As the founder of the first accelerator featuring AI, Dr. Kid Parchariyanon stated that artificial intelligence technology is developing at an unprecedented speed. Startups and corporations have shown great interest in the development of AI technology, with the hope of gaining a competitive edge through AI to create new business opportunities and help organizations adjusting business strategies to strengthen products and services. The goal of RISE is to boost Thailand’s GDP to one percent and improve Thailand’s economic strength while maintaining its competitiveness in the fast-changing world. RISE.AI is the first corporate AI Accelerator program in Southeast Asia, which facilitates the implementation of AI technology into big enterprises by working with a network of global partners. The RISE.AI Demo Day 2019 displayed the works of 30 AI startups, including projects developed jointly with leading companies in various business sectors, such as PTT Public Company Limited, Robot Ventures Limited, Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA), and KASIKORN Business-Technology Group (KBTG). |

Supported by TSI, Industrial Value Creation Program aims to prepare startup teams to participate in international exhibitions overseas, such as CES and VivaTEch, and to bring in world-renowned accelerators and resources. TSI and RISE are happy to serve startup teams planning to enter the Southeast Asian market as platforms for connecting with local businesses. The Ministry of Science and Technology expects to continue the support to startups from TSI to explore the global market and to channel more international funds. |
